The Blues' dynamic story shape is inspired by Kurt Vonnegut's master's thesis on archtypecal stories (their "shape"). He believed we could visually chart the journey of a story based on whether the story's current "state" was positive of negative. The Blues uses a shape Vonnegut called "Man in the Hole."
